Journal Week 3

I went on an ambulance call as a medic and found a man that shot himself in the head. There was dried blood all over the roof of the truck he was in. It looked like someone cut his face off and took all the bones out. It was making me sick thinking that someone could do this to themself. I never wanted to go on an ambulance call like this again. I also went on a basement fire call and as i was in there i got lost. I thought i was going to run out of oxygen. Just as I thought I was going to die in the fire, my fellow firefighters came in and found me to make my way out safely.

  2. I think that the part about the ambulance call gives a good insight into the kind of things he has to deal with. I think that gives a good reason of why firefighters are so different.

  3. What he describes is so gruesome and as nick said it gives insight to what firefighters have to go through from time to time. Being a member in clarendon fire company i have noticed that although we cover a small area there has been quite a bit gruesome suicides and crashes with the patient dead on arrival. It can be hard to forget at times.
