Journal Week 3
I went on an ambulance call as a medic and found a man that shot himself in the head. There was dried blood all over the roof of the truck he was in. It looked like someone cut his face off and took all the bones out. It was making me sick thinking that someone could do this to themself. I never wanted to go on an ambulance call like this again. I also went on a basement fire call and as i was in there i got lost. I thought i was going to run out of oxygen. Just as I thought I was going to die in the fire, my fellow firefighters came in and found me to make my way out safely.
Web weaver Week 3
http://www.nafeco.com/ I chose this link because it shows all the different kinds of gear the firemen have to use for their differnent jobs. http://www.sparky.org/firetruck/firetruck_gallery.html I chose this link because it shows the different types of trucks that are used in fire fighting.

Web Weaver week 3
http://www.lawyershop.com/practice-areas/criminal-law/juvenile-law/crimes
I chose this Because it is all about juvenile crime and this whole book is about a place in texas that houses these children. In this facility children must tell their crime stories and life stories. in this website it states that most go unreported, and when the children tell their stories the psychollogists have to say that if it is bad they have to report it to their home town. It also states the kind of crime and this book outlines that as well/.

this is a website that talks about fending of an assalent.. if someone would have known this some of the people these kids murdered or hurt would have been able to fight back..

Connector, Week 2
Connector, Week 2
Text to Self:
In the book when Zac is moved to Station 1, he has to go through a complete change in scenery and the way people act around and to him. I know how this feels because i have been to 4 different schools. Each time i changed it was a completely different experience. All your familiar surroundings are gone and your surrounded by new faces. It definitely makes you feel out of place.
Text to world:This book takes about call the different emergency calls Zac goes on. This relates to the real world around us because everyday people with no real emergency call 911. The calls arew offten nothing that the fire dept. should have to bother with. Sometimes people just call to get taken to the hospital or just to get taken somewheres. They take advantage of the system.
Text to Self:When Zac is taking about peoples blood making him squeamish it reminded me of when i got hit in the head with a golf club. Seeing others peoples blood doesn't bother me, but if i see a lot of my own it makes me me feel weird. I got hit the forehead with a golf club in 2nd grade. My friend had brought it in for sports show and tell day. I was fine until i realized that i had blood running down my forehead. The instant I knew that i got all light headed and dizzy, just like Zac does in the book.

connector Week 2
i understand how johnnie feels because i was picked on for a few years of school and i know how hard it is to cope with people who dont like you. it is a struggle everyday to even have the will to get out of bed to go to school.
in a way johnnie is also misunderstood he had a rough childhood likie not knowing who his parents were or why they gave him up he reminds me of a book on Nikki Sixx he was torn apart for most of his life by not knowing who his father was so that lead him through a rough journey through life just like johnnie.
i remember hearing a story like marinas like her father abused her and her mother didnt belive her it happened to a girl in toucson except the girl in toucson didnt survive because no one belived her and she ended up taking her own life :(

Journal writer week 2
Dear Journal,
I sit in these meetings day after day, listening to my peers tell their crime and life stories. I look around to see everyone with bus cut hair and the same pants as me. Not much differnt i suppose then the life i lived outside in "the free" because in my gangs everyone wore the same colors. I am different though. I have a lettermans jacket i recieved after almost making it to states with our football . I sit here and think how messed up i have become because of the lack of mother i had as a child, or maybve it was the abuse my aunt inflicted. when we do role play i am a person i would never want to imagine again, but it is to help a peer. So i suck it up and do it,. I begin to think about the pain i have infllicted through my years, murdering, beating, and tormenting those around me.. Sadly i have wound up here, but i am hopefull to get out soon because i am in the capitol offenders group and almost all of us get off our 25 to life sentance with just a few years,, I remain gaurded but i will have to show my feelings when it is my turn. I am nervous..
Sincerely,
Me

Quote Keeper Week 1
pg 1
"For me the pole ment everything i admired about the fire department-speed, daring, an ageless tradition offered to only a select few." I think that this quote is important to the book because it expresses Zacs' feeling towards being a fireman and how difficult it is to acheive that that position.
pg 7
"Theres' no rational explanation for why im about to voluntarily throw myself into the great flaming unknown, a place my every instict tells me i should be fleeing." This quote is important because it shows just just how scarey his job actualy is and how dangerous it is.
pg 59
"Two weeks. About two weeks Timo. ... And ur cutting bread?... Hey guys! Get in here. The new kids cutting bread." This is important because it shows how weird and ritualistic firemen are.

Quote Keeper Week 1
"Fry" Pg.24
I just think that this is important in the book because in a way it shows how the boys lives has been. And it shows how they have been brought up. It also shows how society now a days doesnt care about how the launguage is and like its "slang talk."
" I felt like i was related to just about everybody in Frederick." Pg.34
I think this quote shows a lot about Marina, she felt so close to her families herritage(spanish) that she felt like everyone from her home town was family.
" Finally, I decided I must have. I blammed myself." Pg.39
I think this is very relavent to what kids do all the time in real life. Lets say the parents got a devorce a lot of kids think its their faults and they get down on themselves.
